No, you don’t need to join the me-too movement, however catch yourself, before falling into victimhood.
In the movie Bombshell, Charlize Theron takes on a keen resemblance in her role as Megyn Kelly, I hardly recognized her as herself.
I had no idea what I was walking into, but I did know that the film had three big actresses that I mostly liked.
Charlize Theron did a great job, phenomenal. I felt taken to school by the movie, so unaware ..and frankly a bit like I was getting a whupping. “I should know better, I should be keeping up with real news, being so out of the loop, politically. OOPS. So unconscious. I should know all of this.“
Immediately I was like I’m not a victim. I found myself identifying with the characters. Whoa.
Breathe.
The story is told in a fascinating way. Moreover, from a historical viewpoint…like this really happened…this type of ish..is really happening..at friggin Fox News. I thought of Stacey Dash…did she?
From a moviegoer’s perspective, I loved seeing stars like Charlize, Nicole, and Margot. Margot captured ambition as a budding female anchor and uncertainty in the eye of inappropriate advances, magnificently.
The story is deeply triggering from a women’s standpoint. You may be reminded of the times you’ve heard sideways remarks or comments from men in unsuspecting settings. You may be questioning your own grit…you may ask yourself was I strong enough, did I stand up for myself or was I weak. I appreciate the telling of the story, for many, as myself may otherwise be left in the dark. I value the film, for its power of invoking introspection on these matters. Though, I don’t need to pick up victimhood again. If at all, I can use the inspiration as power and wisdom, to never feel fear of saying No.
