Blogs are so great. And depending on what you want to do with your blog, it can be a way to heal yourself . Yes Blogging for healing is possible and so is having a creative outlet.
I started writing on my blog on blogger in 2007. During this time, I was just beginning to know myself as a woman and a mother, not too long a college graduate. I wrote and shared a lot of my poetry and prose and my reactions to life’s not so happy happenings. I met and connected with a great group of fellow bloggers and I learned to embrace my unique creative style. It was canvas. It was my musical track to sing to. I also learned why E.Badu meant when she said, “I’m an artist and I’m sensitive about my shit.” It was different for me, sharing myself and allowing myself to be seen so intimately. A lot of my readers were co-workers! Why did I share my blog with my coworkers! LOL Well, at 25, you are just not thinking about your boss possibly judging you. At that time, I cared what other people thought about me. Not as much, now, thank god. But then, yes I did and I didn’t realize I cared so much. So, I shrank, and hid myself and my blog away for many years. That ancient blog was set to private and locked away in the vault, LOL.
But, no seriously, in 2015 I finally started the blog up again on WordPress, this time with a primary focus on the healing and wellness topics I wanted to share via my business. From 2012- 2015, I had a wix website. Take a peak at my wix site here. Wix sites are pretty cool , they look great and are easy to use. In that silent time, when my blog was not online, I used JOURNALING. I fell deeply into a journaling practice that opened me in even more so deeply. Want to empty out what’s inside of you? …start journaling. It is a serene complement to your healing journey. And I will write about journaling very soon. (BLOG POST TO COME)
I enjoy having the blank canvases of blogs, websites, social media accounts to share and be seen. Isn’t that why we are here, why we are created, to have an experience of LIFE. Live Your Life then! haha!
The Techy Stuff You Need To Know
It’s really not that hard. In order to have a blog on the internet, you will need to decide what platform you will use. Think of the platform as the land you will build your internet home (blog) on.
I have used Blogger and WordPress. With Blogger you do not have to be concerned with paying to host your site, but your capabilities are a bit more limited, you don’t have as many amentites or freedoms. Depending on what you want and the purpose of your blog, this may work just fine for you. Here’s a link to a site I have at Blogger. I’ve used that same template over and over for different sites that I purchased on etsy for less than $15.
I can help you start yours.
Using WordPress, you have a bit more freedom, but there is an investment involved. Using WordPress, you will need to find a company to host your site. I use bluehost. Bluehost is excellent…I pay for everything once a year. I actually have a hosting package that gives me the freedom to start other blogs and they already have hosting.
You will need website hosting for your blog! Bluehost, the hosting company I’ve used for nearly the past 3 years, is offering 3 entire years for just $3.95/month, this is literally insane pricing, 50% off to be exact. If you are ready, jump on that offer now. I will offer a complementary access to my Abundance Playground for those that sign up for the hosting with Bluehost, just email me your receipt and be sure to use the link in this post, that way you help my business grow! A few great things about Bluehost is that you don’t have to pay extra for email addresses, so you don’t need google suite for business and if you buy the shared hosting plan, you can start more than one website for the same price!
Do you like the look of my site? My site uses something called Genesis with a Restored 316 template, called Sprinkle. Restored 316 has a lot of functional (and pretty, if you like that too) templates for your site. So depending on what your site will be used for, Restored 316 has lots of options.
